A construction for thegolden section point is found in Euclid's Elements.The golden rectangle is supposed to appear in many of the proportions of that famousancient Greek temple, the Parthenon, in the Acropolis in Athens, Greece but there is no original documentary evidence that this was deliberately designed in.(There is a replica of the original building (accurate to one-eighth of an inch!) at Nashville which calls itself "The Athens of South USA".) It occurs naturallyin some of the proportions of the Five Platonic Solids (as we have already seen).
